Life with Suzy

Suzy is almost 3 weeks old now! I can't believe that she has been with us that long! We absolutely love having her in our family! She melts my heart each and every day! I just love being a mother. Although taking care of a newborn has its challenges, I think we are off to a great start. She is a wonderful little baby and has such a good temperament. She is usually happy all day long and will only get a little fussy for an hour or so around bedtime. She sleeps for about 5 hour stretches at night and will usually always fall back asleep very fast after I feed her and change her. Although waking up in the middle of the night isn't always fun, I love rocking her peacefully back to sleep and having her fall asleep on my chest. Just holding her and knowing that she is mine is so special. I am so in love with this precious little girl.

Over the past few weeks we have had many fun visitors and had many fun experiences. Here are some pictures of Suzy's first few weeks!

It was so fun to have my sister Danielle and my niece Scarlet here for the first 2 weeks of Suzy's life! Scarlet was so sweet to Suzy and would sing her songs to make her fall back asleep!

Daddy rocking Suzy to sleep in our awesome rocking chair!

I love this picture! It's like she is saying "Daddy please don't move!"

Suzy loves to be wrapped up tight when she sleeps! We have become master swaddlers! We call this the baby burrito!

We keep Suzy in a cradle right by our bed! Whenever our dog Maddie comes into our room she always goes straight to the cradle to check on the baby! She is very protective of me and the baby!

Our first outing to Grandma and Grandpa's house when Suzy was just 5 days old! We were going to celebrate all of the family birthdays! Danielle's on Feb. 26th, Suzy's on Feb. 28th and my Grandpa Glade's on March 1st! It was so fun that Suzy got to be included. My Grandpa even made sure to have her name written on the birthday cake!

Suzy with her Great-Grandpa Glade! He was sure smitten by her and held her for a very long time!

Aunt Brecke and cute Scarlet holding baby Suzy! What cute girls!

Suzy loves her Grandma Cindy

Suzy on her way to her first doctors appointment! We are so lucky to have Dr. Buchanan be Suzy's doctor. He is my cousin Rachel's husband. He was so sweet to Suzy and we are so happy to have him be her doctor!

I thought I would throw in this cute picture of Maddie! She is such a good dog and so great with the baby! We were a little worried!

Suzy's first bath! She loved being in the warm water! We just won't talk about what she did on me right after her bath before we could get a new diaper on her! We ended up having to clean off her and me again! New parents at their finest! Made for a good laugh though!

Getting warm in Mom's arms after her bath!

One night I had to make cookies for a bridal shower the next day! Unfortunately all Suzy wanted at the moment was her Mom! So we decided to pull out the baby sling! She loved it for about 10 minutes and then she wanted out! We thought she looked so dang cute all tucked inside there! The look on her face is priceless! It's as if she is thinking, "What is going on Mom? Why am I sitting like this?"

Suzy loves getting a bottle from her Dad!

I could have sat like that all day! I love to snuggle with my little girl!

I'm seriously obsessed with her hair!

Just enjoying a little time in her swing!

We are absolutely in love with this precious little girl! Life is so wonderful with her in it! We are so happy that she is ours!

Making her BIG debut....

Introducing...
Suzy Rae Robinson
Born at 9:41 AM February 28th, 2012
7 lbs 7 oz. 21 inches long

We are so happy that our sweet little baby girl has finally arrived safe and sound! This past week has been one of the best of my whole life. It is going to be hard to put into words the overwhelming joy that this precious baby has brought to us. She is absolutely perfect. Let me share with you the story of how our little Suzy came into the world.

On Monday, February 27th I went to teach school like any other normal day. I was feeling uncomfortable all day but just went about teaching with no thoughts that I might be in the beginning stages of labor. Around the last hour of school I was starting to feel some pretty painful contractions, so as soon as the bell rang I excused the students and quickly went home to lie down. It was pretty normal for me to get stronger contractions towards the end of my work days just because I am on my feet all day and am always really tired towards that point in the day. I went home to lie down and the contractions started to slow down a little bit. I called my Mom at that point to tell her how I was feeling because she was throwing me my final baby shower that night at 6:30. She asked if I thought I would still be able to come and I told her I thought I would be fine. Cole came home from work and he drove me to the shower and stayed their the whole time just to make sure I was okay. I was able to put on a happy face for the whole shower even though my contractions had started to pick back up in pain and intensity. I kept discreetly looking at the clock trying to time my contraction the whole shower. As soon as people left I told my Mom that we were going to head home so that I could get into comfy clothes and lie down. As we drove home I decided that I was going to call in a substitute to teach for me the next day. I still wasn't positive if I was really in labor or not but I knew that I could not go into work feeling the way I was feeling. We got home and I got into bed to try and relax. After about 30 minutes I just had this feeling that I needed to go to the hospital. I wasn't sure if I was in labor but thought that I could at least get checked out and know for sure. We quickly packed up our hospital bags and rushed to the hospital. It was snowing like crazy while driving their so we were going pretty slow. I could tell that Cole pretty nervous as he held my hand while trying to drive safely. We got to the hospital at 10:30 that night and they quickly checked me to see what was going on. They told me I was already dilated to a 3 1/2 but they wanted me to walk around the halls for an hour to see if I was going to progress any farther on my own before they would admit me. After a pretty painful walk around the halls for an hour with Cole they rechecked me and said that I was already to a 4 1/2. They admitted me at that point and we switched rooms. The nurse told me I could get an epidural at any time now and I told her the sooner the better. Labor is no joke, it really does hurt bad! Women were not making it up! After I got the epidural at around 1:30 AM I was finally able to relax and enjoy the process. Throughout the night the nurses continued to monitor my progress. Getting an epidural makes things slow down a little bit which was fine because I was able to get a little rest during the next few hours. Finally, at 9:00 AM it was time to start pushing and at 9:41 our little Suzy Rae was welcomed into the world! I can't even explain the pure joy that I felt as I saw my little girl for the first time. I got pretty emotional as I watched the team of nurses cleaning her up and checking her out. Cole stayed right by her side the whole time and kept looking back at me telling me how cute and perfect she was. Cole was so great during this whole thing. He kept looking at me telling me how great I was doing, how much he loved me and how proud he was of me. I could not have done it without him. Finally, after they had her all cleaned up they let Cole bring her over to me. Through teary eyes Cole gently put my baby on my chest and I just lost it. After nine long months my precious little baby was finally here and she was perfect. These were the purest tears of joy that I have ever experienced in my life. Cole and I just sat their for quite a while staring at our sweet little daughter and giving her sweet kisses. Those few minutes that we spent as a new little family are something that I will never forget. Finally, we told the nurses to let mine and Cole's parents in to see the baby. They had been waiting patiently in the waiting room for quite some time and they were getting a little antsy to see their new granddaughter. When my Mom came into the room she came over to me to see how I was. I had tears in my eyes and she asked me what the matter was. I told her that I just couldn't believe how happy I was and how much I loved my little baby already. She then told me something that I will never forget. She said, "Now you know how I feel about you!" I am crying as I am writing this. Wow, what an amazing experience. I had heard all my life about horror stories of women in labor and how terrible it was going to be. I can truly say that it is not true. I loved the whole experience and will always look back on it with so much happiness. I am actually excited that I get to experience it again someday.

The rest of the day was spent dotting over our new little daughter and showing her off to the many visitors we had. We stayed in the hospital for two days and were able to go home on Thursday morning. Since being home we have been living in La La land with this sweet little girl. We love her so much and tell her all the time how happy we are that she is ours! I love my new little family so much!

Suzy's Nursery

We started preparing Suzy's room right after we found out we were having a girl! It was such a fun project to work on together. We love the way that it turned out! I painted this wooden letter that hangs on her door!
The darling bird bedding was a gift to us from my Mom and Dad! We love it so much! The cute green rocking chair was also a gift given to us from Cole's parents. It is so comfortable and Suzy loves to be rocked to sleep in it! All of the other furniture was mine from when I grew up. I love that my little girl will now get to grow up using it as well!
Here is the changing table with the cute painted picture hanging above that was given to us for Christmas from my Mom! I love how it has her name on it!
We will be adding Suzy's newborn pictures into the frames soon!
I love these fun wooden quotes. They are both so true!
Another view of her cute crib!
It was so much fun putting together Suzy's cute nursery! But it is even more fun now that we have a baby to go in it!
